Killie Flyers are a family of dog lovers who enjoy running their dogs either in competition or just for fun.......if your dog is happy, then we're happy!
Based in Kilmarnock, the club formed in 2012 and has grown from strength to strength. Members of the club travel from around Ayrshire, South Lanarkshire and Glasgow to train weekly and compete regularly around the UK. Other teams in Scotland are based in Grampian, Tayside, Lanarkshire and Lothian and we all have close relationships to raise the profile of flyball and more importantly, put on local shows.
Simply put, flyball is a relay race with 4-6 dogs on a team (teams are interchangable with any 4 dogs running during each race, the others as reserves). The dogs race to jump 4 hurdles, trigger a spring loaded box which releases a tennis ball. The dog catches this and returns over the 4 hurdles - when the dog crosses the finish line the next dog goes. The first team to have all 4 dogs run without errors wins the heat.
